The Philips Affiniti CVx is a cart-based cardiovascular ultrasound system built for echocardiography — the mid-range platform in the Philips cardiac line, sitting below the EPIQ CVx. It is used in cardiology practices, hospital echo labs and outpatient imaging settings, and it reaches the used market as facilities standardize on newer platforms or consolidate locations.
Philips cardiovascular systems carry a great deal of their capability as licensed application packages, which makes the configuration question unusually important here.

Two Affiniti CVx systems with identical model badges can differ substantially in what they will actually do. Ask for the enabled options list against the serial number, in writing, and treat any answer that describes the model line rather than the machine as an answer you have not yet received.

Known failure points
Probe lens and cable damage is, as always, the cost that decides the purchase. Ask for photographs rather than assurances.
TEE probe condition deserves separate examination if one is included; it is the most expensive single item in most ultrasound transactions.
Monitor and touch panel. Check the main display for dead regions and the touch panel for unresponsive zones — touch panels on cart systems wear at predictable spots.
Licensed packages are the most common post-purchase disappointment across the whole ultrasound category, and the easiest to avoid.
Patient data. Confirm the seller has removed any stored studies before shipment.
Pre-purchase inspection checklist
- List every included transducer by model number, in writing
- Ask for lens-face and full-cable photographs of each probe
- Inspect any TEE probe and ask about leakage testing history
- Get enabled application packages confirmed against the serial number
- Confirm the software revision and what it permits
- Test or ask about the touch panel across its full surface
- Ask for exported sample images, not screen photographs
- Confirm the seller has removed stored patient data
- Measure the full route into the room
