Used Alcon INFINITI Vision System
A capable cataract platform whose future depends less on its condition than on whether you can still buy packs for it.
The Alcon INFINITI Vision System is a phacoemulsification platform for cataract surgery — the console that drives the handpiece, irrigation, aspiration and vitrectomy functions during lens removal. It has been widely installed, and it appears steadily on the used market as surgical centers move to newer Alcon platforms.
For a used buyer, the equipment is the straightforward part. The decisive question is consumables.
Consumables decide whether this is a purchase or a paperweight
A phaco console does nothing without its single-use packs, tubing and handpiece consumables. Before considering condition, price or anything else, establish:
- Are the consumable packs for this platform still manufactured and available to you?
- At what cost per case, and from whom?
- Is there a supply commitment, or is availability being wound down?
Manufacturers move surgical platforms through generations, and consumable supply for an older console can narrow over time. A console you cannot buy packs for cannot operate, regardless of how well it works. Get this answered in writing by a supplier who will actually sell to you — not by the seller of the machine.

Known failure points
Consumable availability. Not a fault, and the thing most likely to make the purchase a mistake.
Handpiece condition. Phaco handpieces are precision items with a service life. Ask when each was last serviced and by whom.
Fluidics and pump wear. The console's working core. Ask for service history rather than assurances.
Footswitch faults. Wireless footswitches lose pairing and batteries age. Confirm function.
Software version limits. Older versions restrict available modes.
