Used Midmark 625 Exam Table
The most commonly resold powered exam table in the country, and the easiest place on this list to save real money without compromise.
The Midmark 625 is a powered, low-height examination table designed so that patients with limited mobility can be seated and examined without climbing. It is used across primary care, women's health, orthopedics, occupational health and community clinics, and it is one of the largest-volume items on the entire used medical equipment market.
That volume is the opportunity. Exam furniture is mechanically simple, extremely long-lived, and its wear is almost entirely cosmetic — which means a well-chosen used 625 does the same job as a new one for a fraction of the outlay, and any shortfall is fixable with upholstery rather than engineering.
What actually varies between units
| Element | What to check |
|---|---|
| Upholstery condition | Splits, compression and staining. Reupholstery is inexpensive relative to the table |
| Upholstery colour | Reupholstery lets you match a room rather than accept what arrives |
| Actuator function | Full travel, both directions, smoothly and under load |
| Hand and foot control | Present, working, cable intact at the strain relief |
| Stirrups and accessories | Frequently separate. Confirm what is included |
| Drawer and cabinet condition | Alignment, slides and latches |
| Paint and base condition | Cosmetic, and a reasonable proxy for how the table was treated |

Known failure points
Upholstery. Vinyl splits and foam compresses. This is the most common visible defect and the least important one — reupholstery is straightforward, inexpensive, and lets you choose the colour.
Actuator wear. The one mechanical item worth real attention. The table should raise and lower smoothly through full travel, under load, without hesitation or noise, and hold position.
Control cable failure. Cables fail where they flex. Inspect at the strain relief on both ends.
Missing accessories. Stirrups, paper roll holders and drawer inserts get separated from tables. Confirm what is included.
Cosmetic paint damage. Chips and scratches on the base. Purely cosmetic on a table of this type.
Pre-purchase inspection checklist
- Run the table through full travel, both directions, under load
- Confirm it holds position at height
- Inspect the upholstery and decide whether reupholstery is worth budgeting
- Confirm the hand control and any foot control are included and working
- Inspect control cables at the strain relief
- Confirm stirrups and any accessories you need are included
- Check drawer alignment and latch function
- Confirm doorway clearance for the delivery route
