Used Siemens Arcadis Avantic C-Arm
The vascular-capable Arcadis — worth the premium only if the work actually calls for it.
The Siemens Arcadis Avantic is the higher-capability system in the Arcadis mobile C-arm family, built with a stronger generator and a more capable imaging chain than the Varic. It is intended for vascular and more demanding procedures — the work where a general-purpose C-arm runs out of output and image quality at exactly the wrong moment.
Two things follow from that, and both matter to a buyer.
First, an Avantic is worth its premium only if your case mix needs it. Orthopedic, podiatric and pain management work is well served by a Varic, and paying for an Avantic to do it is buying headroom that never gets used.
Second, verify that a machine listed as an Avantic actually is one. The two models are routinely confused in used listings. Confirm from the system information screen and the serial number before money moves.

Known failure points
The Avantic wears where every C-arm wears. Image intensifier degradation is the largest hidden cost, followed by tube hours. The interconnect cable is the most commonly damaged single component. Brake and counterbalance wear shows as axes that drift rather than hold.
One Avantic-specific point: because these machines are bought for vascular work, they are often bought by facilities that run them hard. A low-hour Avantic exists, but it is not the default assumption, and the accumulated hours figure deserves more weight here than on a general-purpose machine.
Pre-purchase inspection checklist
- Verify Avantic versus Varic from the system information screen and serial
- Get licensed software packages listed against the serial number, in writing
- Confirm intensifier size and ask for exported sample images
- Ask for accumulated tube hours and treat a high figure as a scheduled cost
- Inspect the interconnect cable end to end
- Move every axis through full travel and confirm it holds position
- Identify a service provider covering your area before purchase
- Check your state's radiation control requirements before shipment
- Measure the full delivery route into the room
